The Pandanus Project
The Pandanus Project showcases fibre works resulting from a six month artistic exchange between weavers from the Beswick community and fibre artist Adrienne Kneebone. The artists worked with Adrienne to develop new work , ideas and techniques and easily adapted to contemporary fibre art forms, fusing traditional knowledge with their new skills. This project will be used as a platform for future projects and to raise awareness of fibre as a sustainable medium in contemporary art.
Adrienne Kneebone was born in Launceston in 1975 before relocating to the Northern Territory in 1995 where she become interested in fibre art. Nowadays she has a busy schedule exhibiting and tutoring to a local and national audience. She has been a resident of Katherine where she became heavily involved in a community based initiative called The Pandanus Project.
